Bruce Dawson B Comm, LLB, Notary Public
Bruce was admitted as a Solicitor over 35 years ago and has practised extensively in an impressive range of legal disciplines since that time. He has a Commerce Degree and a Law Degree from The University of New South Wales, and was a registered Tax Agent for many years. He was one of the very first Notaries in Lake Macquarie, having been first made a Notary Public in 1995.
Bruce has worked in many areas besides Law, including shop assistant, building labourer, courier, furniture removalist, motel night manager, service station attendant and Taxi Driver as well as a telephone Counsellor with Lifeline, so he has spent a lot of time in the ‘real world’ and has no difficulty in relating to the problems and needs of clients.
He is married with 3 children (and two dogs).

Iain is our solicitor who undertakes all our family law and civil litigation. Iain was born and raised in Newcastle and understands Novocastrians. Iain is a late comer to the law and was an electrician for 15 years and during that time was a union delegate for the ETU, it was there he found his passion for standing up for people’s rights. He prides himself on being down to earth and approachable. His goal is to make his clients experience with family law as seamless and stress free as possible. Iain is married with two young children and is an avid Rugby Union fan playing in Newcastle, Sydney and the United Kingdom.

Kelly is our Licensed Conveyancer at our Cardiff office. Kelly completed a Bachelor of Legal & Justice Studies through Southern Cross University in 2002, and after three years working as a paralegal at a local law firm, Kelly made the move to Dawson Solicitors where she obtained her Conveyancing License. Kelly has now been with us for 10 years. Kelly provides an outstanding service to all her clients and ensures you’re always kept up to date with what’s happening in your matter. Kelly enjoys cooking, reading, watching movies and spending time with her beautiful chocolate Labrador.
Krystle is our Licensed Conveyancer at Morisset and completed her studies through Macquarie University. Krystle prides herself on delivering exceptional outcomes, communicating openly with her clients and ensuring all conveyances go as smoothly as possible.
Receptionist/Conveyancing Assistant/Justice of the Peace
Amy is our Conveyancer in Training and has been employed by Dawson Solicitors for the last 9 years. Amy is currently studying Conveyancing through Macquarie University. Amy’s clients appreciate her attention to detail, responsiveness and friendly personality. She never misses a deadline, always responds quickly to clients and is very approachable.
Annie has worked in a variety of administrative roles for many years for law firms in Sydney, Adelaide and Newcastle.
Annie supports our professional team with accurate and efficient administrative skills whilst still being warm and friendly, ensuring our clients feel at ease and well looked after.
Legal Secretary/Justice of the Peace
Cheryl started her legal career at a very young age and now has over 35 years experience. She has worked at numerous, well established local firms and has now been with Dawson Solicitors for 16 years. She has extensive experience in the areas of Family Law and Wills and Probate and is frequently the “go to” person for the other staff when assistance is required.
Cheryl’s interests include gardening, cooking, craft, yoga, reading, crosswords, travelling and spending time with family and friends. Cheryl has obtained diplomas in Interior Decorating, Cordon Bleu Cooking, Beauty Therapy and Cake Decorating and is always interested in learning new skills.
Chris initially started with Dawson Solicitors over 20 years ago as a Legal Secretary, and after a short break returned over 12 years ago as a Licensed Conveyancer.
Chris has a warm and friendly personality and is always willing to go that extra mile for her clients. In her spare time Chris enjoys quilting and runs her own quilting business. She is married with 3 grown up children and 10 grandchildren.
Jill is our smiling and friendly Accounts Assistant and has been with Dawson Solicitors for over 20 years. Having previously worked as a school teacher, Jill enjoys the challenges of a busy office environment. Jill is married with 3 adult children, and has a gorgeous rescue dog named Jasper.
Carol has been running the financial side of Dawson Solicitors for over 25 years. She is a very valued staff member and is an absolute whizz when it comes to all things numbers! Carol also deals with government departments and suppliers. She is an avid golfer and tries to play at least a couple of times a week.
